Rock Candy Mountains

Description

This unusual group of rock formations can be found near the junction of CA Highway 138 and Interstate 15, along Cajon Pass. These rocks were crunched and folded up due to pressures from the nearby San Andreas Fault and other faults intersecting. Kind of like toothpaste...
Once exposed to wind and rain and ice, the sandstone surface became pockmarked with holes and caves, and ledges. They are also known as Mormon Rocks, because the Mormons found this passage (Cajon Pass) through the San Gabriel Mtns in order to emigrate to Southern California.

I like your perspective of this image. An interesting formation for sure. Gosh...I must make plans to travel down your way and view California with your images as a guide. Great work!
